In a university course I was taking on the Geography of Appalachia, I learned that there are an estimated 16 peaks (many unnamed) within the Great Smoky Mountains National Park that rise above 6,000 ft in elevation. Three days later, it came upon me. Why not take it on as a challenge to climb them all. That'll be a great journey. I'm not sure why it took me so long to arrive at this thought.
